2014 Art as Worship Theme and Application -- DATE CHANGE!

2014 Art as Worship Theme
LIGHT

In the beginning God created (Genesis 1:1). God is creator, God still creates today, and He calls us to be creative. Matthew shares this encouragement for us as artists in the fifth chapter of his Gospel —

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We honor God with our artistic creations as a visible reflection of LIGHT for the world. We invite artists to submit work that considers in some way the meanings and resonances of LIGHT in scripture, in Christian thought, and in human society.
